Annie Harper is based in Reading, Pennsylvania and offers studio and on-location photography for families throughout Berks County and neighboring regions, including the Main Line, Chester County, Bucks County, Montgomery County, Lancaster County, and Lehigh Valley, with travel available.
Bringing your baby home is one of those seasons that feels both slow and fleeting at the same time. The days are full, the nights are long, and everything is new. Choosing how you want to document it can feel like another big decision in the middle of it all.
If you’re currently deciding between an in-home newborn session or a studio session, you’re not alone. This is one of the most common questions I get from families in Reading, Exeter Township, and across Berks County.
The truth is, there isn’t a right or wrong choice—just what feels most like you.
In-home sessions are entirely lifestyle-based. That means no props and no posing setups
Instead, the focus is on your real life - your baby in your arms, feeding in the nursery, cuddling on the couch, siblings peeking in, the quiet moments in between.
These sessions use only natural window light and are guided gently, but never overly directed. Your home doesn’t need to be perfect - just a few areas with good light are all we need!
This option is perfect if you:
* Want something deeply personal and relaxed
* Love candid, emotional moments
* Prefer staying in the comfort of your home during those early weeks
Studio sessions offer a more controlled, minimal environment designed to feel calm and effortless from the moment you walk in.
Everything is prepared for you - soft lighting, neutral tones, access to the client wardrobe, and a space designed to keep the focus on your baby and your connection as a family.
There is a mix of gently posed baby images along with natural family moments, all styled in a timeless, light-filled way.
This option is perfect if you:
* Want a polished, cohesive look
* Prefer not to prepare your home
* Love soft, minimal, light-filled imagery
Newborn sessions are typically scheduled within the first few weeks after baby arrives. Because arrival dates can be unpredictable, I only take a limited number of newborn sessions each month to allow flexibility for every family.
Booking early in the second trimester is usually the best way to ensure availability.
